Brief update:
The subject case was taken up before the Trial at Bar for the evidence of the 49th witness (witness No 1127), 50th witness (witness no.1117), 51st witness (witness no. 1101), witness no. 905, witness no. 906 and witness no. 2197. Witness no. 905 was not present before the court today. Witness no. 907 was present before court even though no summons were issued to him. He was released temporarily.
The 23rd accused is not present in the court as he was under medication in the prison hospital and was represented by a lawyer.
The witness No. 1127 is an employee in Excel Company, who provided CCTV facilities to Cinnamon Grand Hotel. He was questioned as to the time difference in the cameras of Cinnamon Grand Hotel and Crescat Shopping Mall. The lawyers for the accused informed court that they do not intend to cross-examine the witness.
Witness no. 1117 is the Information Technical Head of Katunayake International Airport. A map of the CCTV cameras in the Airport was marked. He was questioned showing certain CCTV footages. He was cross- examined by the lawyer appearing for the 13th accused and was re-examined.
Witness no. 1101 was the driver of the bomber in Cinnamon Grand Hotel. He was questioned showing certain CCTV footages from Katunayake International Airport and Cinnamon Grand Hotel. He identified the bomber.
The court adviced Witnesses Nos. 906 and 2197 to be present before the court on the 5th March 2024. The court issued summons to witness Nos. 1315 and 1297 to be present before the court on the 5th March 2024, Witnesses Nos. 1291, 1277 and 1281 to be present before the court on the 6th March 2024 and Witnesses Nos. 1274, 1278, 1279 and 2198 to be present before the court on the 07th March 2024.
Next dates: The case will be taken up on the 05th, 06th and 07th of March 2024 at 1.00 p.m for further trial.
