Brief update:
The subject case was taken up before the Trial at Bar for the evidence of the witness No.1344 (70th witness), witness No.2202 (71st witness) and witness No. 1353 (72nd witness).
The witness No 1344 was a three wheeler driver. Suicide bomber who committed suicide in Dehiwala had come to New Tropical Inn on 21st April 2019 by the threewheeler driven by this witness. CCTV footages were shown to this witness and marked as evidence. Few CDs and photos were also marked as evidence. The lawyers for the accused informed the court that they do not intend to cross-examine the witness.
The witness No 2202 was the then security head of the Commercial Bank. He was called as a witness since few CCTV footages of the bomber in New Tropical Inn, Dehiwala were taken from the CCTV system of Commercial Bank. The lawyers for the accused informed court that they do not contest the evidence that the prosecution intends to lead from this witness. The court released the witness.
The witness No 1353 was an employee of New Tropical Inn, who reserved a room for the bomber. Few marked photos were showed to him while leading evidence and he was able to recognize those photos. The log book and log book entry regarding the bomber were marked. The prosecution did not conclude leading evidence of this witness.
Court advised PW 1353 and PW 1345 to be present before the court tomorrow.
Next dates: The case will be taken up on the 27th of March 2024 at 1.00 p.m for further trial.
