Brief update:
The subject case was taken up before the Trial at Bar for the trial (Voir dire inquiry) of the 11th accused.
The 13th Accused was not present before the court as he has gone to the clinic at the hospital. He was represented by a lawyer and the trial proceeded in his absence.
The subject case was taken up before the Trial at Bar for the evidence of the witness No.2226 and No.1387. The witness No.1387 was absent as he is abroad. Therefore, the Prosecution Substituted the witness No. 2227 for the witness No.1387.
The lawyer for the 11th accused objected regarding the conducting evidence of the Witness No.2226 and No.2227. After hearing the submissions the court granted permission to lead the evidence of the above withnesses.
The witness No.2227 is a legal Coordinator of the Dialog Axiata Pvt Ltd. He gave evidence regarding Contact Numbers and Signal Tower evidence in the documents marked as X3, X4, X7, X8 and X12 to prove the accused was in Negambo Area between 2018 September to 2019 January.
The evidence in chief of the 2227 th Witness concluded and the cross examination commenced. Only the Attorney at law representing the 11th accused cross examined the witness and took a date for further cross examination .
The witnesses No. 2227 and No. 2226 are to be present on the next date.
Further trial was fixed for 19th of June 2024.
