Brief update:
The subject case was taken up before the Trial at Bar for the evidence of PW 2111, PW 2112, PW 2113 and PW 2225.
All accused were present before the court.
The 11th Accused has appealed against the order of the court regrading his confession made under S. 127 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The parties agreed to continue with the main criminal trial while the appeal is pending before the Supreme Court.
PW 2111 is the former Magistrate of Mount Lavinia. The statement made by the 11th Accused and certain potions from the statement were marked while leading the evidence.
The lawyer for the 11th Accused started to cross-examine the witness, however, the cross-examination was not concluded.
The case was fixed for further trial on the 31st of July 2024 at 1.00pm.
Next dates: The case will be taken up on the 31st of July 2024 – at 1 p.m. and 1st of August 2024- at 1 p.m for further trial.
