Brief update:
The subject case was taken up before the Trial at Bar for the evidence of PW 2048 and the witness was present in court.
All accused were present before the court.
The Cross examination of the PW2048 Mr. Saman Padmasiri Perera who was an Assistant Superintendent of Police of the Counter Terrorism and Investigation Department (CTID)(now he is a retired Superintendent) concluded.
At the cross examination it was raised that before the witness took the confession, he did not record the accused’s statement as questions and answers as mentioned in section 110 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Senior Deputy Solicitor General Sudarshana De Silva re – examined the witness and concluded the re – examination.
Judges issued summons to the PW 2055, 2056 and 2051 to appear before the court on 29th August 2024 at 1pm.
Next dates: The case will be taken up on the 27th of August 2024 – at 1.30 p.m as a calling date and 29th August 2024 for the trial.
