The Centre for Society and Religion (CSR) has submitted a proposal to all presidential candidates, recommending the establishment of a special commission to ensure justice for the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attack victims. The proposal calls for the creation of a dedicated investigation office under the supervision of the commission, which should consist of both local and international judges and experts.
The CSR has urged all presidential candidates to publicly commit to implementing these proposals if elected. It has also recommended the appointment of a special prosecutor’s office to handle prosecutions and oversee investigations, thereby avoiding conflicts withing the Attorney General’s Department.
The proposal was submitted by Father Rohan Silva, Director of the CSR, on behalf of the organisation.
