The case was taken up to check whether the 3rd, 7th, 8th,11th 12th,18th,19th, 20th and 21st accused have retained new lawyers. 3rd, 11th and 21st accused were represented by an assigned counsel.
The 6th, 7th, 8th, 19th and 20th accused were not represented.
The judge asked each of them whether they need counsels from the state expenses or whether they can retain counsels by themselves. The 7th, 8th and 20th accused requested to have assigned counsels. Others asked for a reasonable time to retain new counsels. The Court ordered to send the request to BASL for assigned counsels.
The Court further ordered to send productions and original case record of B 621/19 Baticcaloa MC to this Court as there was no response to the order already made.
