The case was taken up before the Trial-at-Bar. All accused were present except the 17th accused, who has passed away. The state counsel informed the court that the case has been sent to the Chief Justice, and he has indicated that he will appoint a five-judge bench to hear this matter.
Mr. Marasinghe, the Chair Judge of the Trial-at-Bar, also informed the court that the 21st accused has submitted a bail application, and copies of the application have been provided to the co-judges in the bench. However, the Attorney General’s department informed the court that they have not received copies of the bail application.
The next hearing date is fixed for August 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
