Date: November 27, 2025
Case Number: HC(TAB) 2972/21
At today’s trial, the Court continued proceedings on the admissibility of the confession made by the 11th Accused in Document P168.
Prosecution Witness No. 2047, a retired ASP of the Terrorism Investigation Division, gave evidence.
Witness described how the statement was recorded, including page arrangement, beginning of the statement, and locations of signatures of both the witness and the accused.
Witness confirmed that the contents of P168 were entirely written by the 11th Accused.
During cross-examination, counsel for the 11th Accused challenged the statement’s legality, contending that an accused cannot personally write a statement in the Information Book and that the recording officer must write it, rendering the statement potentially inadmissible.
No re-examination was requested by the State.
The drafted admission document was handedover to the Court by the State Counsel, and copies have already been provided to all accused.
Court fixed further two days.
