Today, the matter was taken up for the voir dire inquiry of the 15th Accused, and the prosecution witnesses Nos. 2, 3, and 4 from the additional witness list of the prosecution appeared before the court.
The evidence of Prosecution Witness No. 2, a CID Police Sergeant, who produced the Accused before the Mawanella Magistrate’s Court for the purpose of recording the confessionary statement of the 15th Accused, was recorded and concluded.
Further, today the Court ordered Dialog PLC to produce the telecommunication reports relating to Fazlin, the elder son of the 15th Accused, for the period 25th to 27th September 2019. Accordingly, the said records were produced in court during the evening session and was marked as 15 VD 1, with relevant particulars of the said document marked as 15 VD 1(A), (B), (C), and (D).
Thereafter, the evidence-in-chief of Prosecution Witness No. 3 was commenced. However, due to lack of time, proceedings were stopped for today, and the further trial is fixed for tomorrow at 10.00 a.m.
The Court further directed Prosecution Witnesses Nos. 3 and 4 to be present tomorrow at 10.00 a.m.
