143rd Day of the Main Easter Attack Trial – HC (TAB) 2972/21

The above matter was taken up for trial on 17 February 2026 at approximately 10.00 a.m. before the Honourable Judges Navaratne Marasinghe, Sujeewa Nissanka, and Ramanathan Kannan sitting as the Permanent Trial-at-Bar of the Special High Court.
All the accused were present before the court except the 17th accused who has passed away and the 10th accused who is admitted to the hospital.
Only the 12th and the 13th accused and the aggrieved parties were represented. The other accused appeared in person. PW 1773 was present in court.
The order of the voir dire inquiry of the 8th accused will be delivered on 24-02-2026 since the 10th accused is absent in the court today.
Since the High Court of Puttlam has summoned six accused on 20-02-2026, the court ordered the prison authorities to comply with that order. The 20th accused was tendered with clear statements as per his request yesterday. The court further ordered the prison authorities to take steps to give the Tamil documents of the 1st accused from Bussa prison.
The accused requested to limit the court proceedings only till 3.00pm since they are fasting.
Accordingly, the case was fixed for calling on 19-02-2026 at 10.00am to fix a date for the trial.
