All Accused were present in court. The all the Accused except 12th and 13th did not have legal representation and appeared in person. 12 and 13 accused were represented.
the case commenced with the Evidence of witness no. PW538 , a victim of the easter sunday attack on 19.4.2019. She was present during the explosion at the Katuwapitiya church and suffered a head injury and was admitted at negombo hospital and thereafter at ave maria hospital. She is still suffering from a hearing impediment and under treatment. The witness wasn’t cross examined.
The next witness for the prosecution was witness no.PW 539 a victim of the easter Sunday attack on 19.4.2019. Residing close to the katuwapitiya church. She was in attendance when the bomb exploded at the katuwaputiya church. She suffered 7 broken ribs and her lung was pierced. She stated in evidence that she received treatment from 3 hospitals and it took around 4 years to recover from the injuries
The 3rd witness for the day is witness no.PW 551 grandson of former witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined
The 4th witness PW 567 a victim of the easter Sunday attack on 19.4.2019. She was in attendance when the bomb exploded at the katuwaputiya church. She is an eyewitness who saw the bomber and cctv evidence of the bomber prior to the bombing was shown and identified by witness. The witness was cross examined by the counsel for 12 and 13 accused.
The 5th witness PW 617 a victim of the easter Sunday attack on 19.4.2019. he was in attendance when the bomb exploded at the katuwaputiya church with his mother and injured during the blast. The witness wasn’t cross examined.
The 6th witness PW 547 is a victim of the easter Sunday attack on 19.4.2019. She was in attendance when the bomb exploded at the katuwaputiya church. She stated that her daughter perished from the blast. She is an eyewitness who saw the bomber and cctv evidence of the bomber prior to the bombing was shown and identified by witness.
The 7th witness PW 555 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 8th witness PW 543 he is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. He is an eye witness who saw the bomber and described the incident in detail. Cctv footage of the bomber entering the church premises was displayed in court. The witness was cross examined by counsel for 12th 13th accused.
The 9th witness PW 556 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 10th witness PW 561 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. Her husband perished from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 11th witness is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 12th witness PW 559 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 13th witness PW 546 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 14th witness PW 560 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 15th witness PW 542 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 16th witness PW 563 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 17th witness PW 568 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 18th witness PW 505 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 19th witness PW 552 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. Her mother passed away due to the incident and evidence was led regarding the same and the witness was not cross examined.
The 20th witness PW 542 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
The 21st witness PW 565 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church . Her sister succumbed to the injuries and evidence was led regarding her death.The witness was not cross examined.
The 22th witness PW 566 is a witness who was also in attendance at Katuwapitiya church and got injured from the blast. The witness was not cross examined.
PW 540 ans PW 568 who were due to give evidence were absent and summons resent. Thirty witnesses are scheduled to testify on the next date.
