PW-1042, an employee of Decathlon Sri Lanka, testified regarding the sale of sporting goods allegedly connected to the offences and identified receipts, product codes, CCTV footage, and physical items, including backpacks, shoes, clothing, and accessories marked as P865–P874(E). No cross-examination was conducted. The Court also granted several prosecution applications relating to the summoning and substitution of witnesses, inspection and examination of productions, and preservation of documentary evidence.
Further evidence was led from PW-2268, PW-1375, and PW-1379 regarding the rental of a house linked to the suspects, hospital admission records of M.I. Shahid, and telephone communications with the patient’s guardian. The Court also delivered its ruling on the voir dire concerning the alleged confession of the 1st accused, holding that the statement had been made voluntarily and permitting the previously marked document M1 to be admitted as Prosecution Document P803. The Court further addressed issues relating to chemical exhibits and hazardous productions before adjourning the case to 23rd June 2026 at 10.00 a.m. for further trial.
