All the accused, except the 17th accused who has passed away, were present today. The 2nd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th to 25th accused were represented and the others appeared in person. The proceedings started at 9.00 am and the main trial continued.
PW 1433, 1441 and 1446 are officers of the Government Analyst Department who had done examinations of the productions relating to the Easter Sunday bombing. These productions were found at the places where the bombs were exploded and also from other places such as safe homes and estates where the accused or bombers have lived. The documents relating to their examination and productions were marking while leading the evidence. The witnesses were not cross-examined.
PW 1945 is a retired CID officer who have engaged in the arrest of the accused and the investigations relating to the Easter Sunday attack. He has involved in the investigations of the breaking of Buddhist statutes in Mawanella, arrest of many accused, recovery of productions, leading other officers to safe homes and other investigation processes. He was able to identify few of the accused in open court. He was cross-examined and also re-examined.
