All the accused, except the 17th accused who has passed away, were present today. The 2nd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th to 25th accused were represented and the others appeared in person.
The defence trial continued and the 2nd, 7th, 8th, 10th, 18th, 19th, 12th and 14th accused made their dock statements in the court today. All the dock statements were made in Tamil language. The 10th accused stated that even though, he had contacts with the suicide bombers and the NTJ, he was not aware of their intentions and had not involved in their planning for the attack. The rest of the accused stated that they had no contacts with the suicide bombers or any involvement in any manner in the Easter Sunday attack. All the accused mentioned that they are not guilty of the charges made against them and pleaded to be acquitted.
Except the 6th accused, the rest of the accused will make their dock statements on the 19/08/2026.
