Brief update:
The subject case was taken up before the Trial at Bar for the evidence of the 22nd witness (witness no. 814) and the witness no. 817 was also present before the court.
The 23rd accused has had a heart attack during the last weekend and was present before the court today. Upon the request made, the court ordered to hospitalize the accused and to continue the trial in his absence under S. 241 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The 22nd witness (witness no. 814) is the then parish priest of St. Sebastian’s Church, Katuwapitiya at the time the Easter attack took place. The relevant CCTV footages, photos, the CDs containing CCTV footages and photos and a plan of St. Sebastian’s church, Katuwapitiya prepared by Surveyor General’s Department were marked during he examination- in- chief.
Out of counsel for the accused, the counsel for the 4th and 15th accused cross examined the witness. During the re-examination State Counsel informed the Court that there are no questions.
Court ordered witness no. 817 to be present before the court on the 17th and also to issue summons to witness no. 506 through CID to be present before the court on the 17th.
