Brief update:
The subject case was taken up before the Trial at Bar for the evidence of witness No.2221,2222, 2223 & 2224. Witnesses No. 2222, 2223 & 2224 were present before the court while the witness No 2221 was absent.
23rd Accused also was not present before the court.
Witness No.2224 (75th witness) is a translator of the Ministry of Public Administration. Currently this witness is on 5 years no pay leave. This witness and two others translated (Tamil & Arabic to Sinhala) in the videos dated 20.04.2019 in which Saharan who was a suicide bomber was making a statement in the presence of several other unidentifiable individuals. The document with the signature of the witness with the translation was identified by the witness. The respective videos were shown in the open court, and the translation was also read out in the open court. The evidence in chief of this witness was not concluded.
The court warned witness No 2222,2223 & 2224 to appear before the court on 8th May 2024.
Further trial was fixed for 8th May 2024.
