185th Day of the Main Easter Attack Trial – HC (TAB) 2972/21
Date: 13th May 2026|
Venue: Special Permanent Three-Judge High Court (Trial-at-Bar), 2nd Floor, MCC Building, Adhikarana Mawatha, Colombo 12.
Except the 17th accused who has passed away, rest of the accused were present before the court. The 1st, 12th and 13th accused were represented and the other accused appeared in person. The voir dire inquiry of the 1st accused continued today and the prosecution led evidence. PW 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the additional witness list are present before the court. PW 5 has passed away. PW 7 and 10 are not present before court since they are appearing before the Batticaloa Magistrate court today. Prosecution asked the court to issue summons to PW 8 and 9 to be present before the court tomorrow.
PW1 is a CID officer who had performed duties in Upasewa on 2020/7/18 and accompanied the 1st accused to meet the ASP. He gave evidence as to the duty he performed. He was cross-examined by the counsel for the 1st accused and also by the 3rd, 4th and 9th accused. He was also re-examined thereafter.
The rest of the witnesses were advised to be present before court tomorrow.
The court pronounced the order of the voir dire inquiry of the 4th accused and the court held that the 4th accused made the statement under S.16(1) of the PTA voluntarily. The court issued summons to PW 1773 to be present before court on 15/05/2026 to mark ‘E1’ as P 183.
