215th Day of the Main Easter Attack Trial – HC (TAB) 2972/21

Venue: Special Permanent Three-Judge High Court (Trial-at-Bar), 2nd Floor, MCC Building, Adhikarana Mawatha, Colombo 12.
All the accused, except the 17th accused who has passed away, were present today. The 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th to 25th accused were represented and the others appeared in person. PW 2095, 182, 1365, 2265 and 2266 were present before the court and PW 2243 has migrated. The court further issued summons on PW 2298 and 2299 and later PW 2299 was discharged from giving evidence.
PW 2265 was asked by the 16th accused to buy 100 Dynamite for which he received Rs.25000/-. He was unable to fulfil his request. He identified the 16th accused in court. He was cross-examined.
PW 2265 was a manager of a hotel in Narammala. The entry book of the hotel and some entries of it were marked where the details of Mohomadu Mohomad Saridu Adam Lebbe, however, he was unable to identify the accused.
PW 182 is the brother-in-law of the suicide bomber in Kochchikade church. He identified the bomber with the photos and videos showed to him and those were marked as evidence.
PW 2298 is an officer of Government Translators’ Service who has translated the confession of the 1st accused from Tamil to Sinhala. He was summoned today, since the accused mentioned that there are mistakes in the translation. The cover letter, Sinhala translation and the Tamil copy he has brought were marked. He was cross-examined on minor changes in words and also re-examined.
PW 2095 is the ASP of CID to whom the 1st accused made the confession. The statement which was temporary marked as M1 was marked and the portions of the Sinhala translation were also marked. He was cross-examined and also re-examined.
PW 1365 is the father-in-law of the suicide bomber in Dehiwala lodge. When his evidence was commenced, the accused mentioned to court that they are willing to make some admissions regarding the death and identification of the bomber. further, it was undertaken by Mr. Kaneel AAL to make this admission regarding all the suicide bombers and their identification representing all the accused. The marking of admissions is fixed for 3/7/2026.
PW 839, 840 and 835 were summed for tomorrow.
