The case was taken up before the Trial-at-Bar with all accused present, except the 17th accused, who had passed away.
The 2nd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th to 25th accused were represented, while the others appeared in person.
1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th, 11th, 14th, and 16th accused submitted their Written Submissions in the Open Court.
The Counsels appearing for the rest of the accused informed the Court that there were a few technical errors in their Written Submissions and sought further time till 12.00 p.m. tomorrow (9/9/2026). The Prosecution also informed the Court that if required to file their Written Submissions today, they could email or otherwise sought further time till 12.00 p.m. tomorrow (9/9/2026). The Court allowed the parties to file their Written Submissions accordingly.
The Court directed the Colombo Remand Prison to produce the 13th accused before a doctor on the relevant days.
The Court informed the parties that copies of the Written Submission could be provided to the Prosecution and to the accused appearing on their behalf through the registrar.
The matter was fixed to be called again on 22nd September 2026 at 9.00 a.m. for judgement.
