209th Day of the Main Easter Attack Trial – HC (TAB) 2972/21
Date: 17th June 2026|
Venue: Special Permanent Three-Judge High Court (Trial-at-Bar), 2nd Floor, MCC Building, Adhikarana Mawatha, Colombo 12.
All the accused, except the 17th accused who has passed away and the 13th accused who was attending to a clinic, were present today. The 1st, 2nd , 7th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th to 25th accused were represented and the others appeared in person. PW 2269, 2254, 2270, 2271 and 2272 were present before the court. PW 2269 was discharged from giving evidence.
PW 2271 is an employee of Akara Apartments in Mayura Place where a suicide bomber had rented an apartment. He identified the bomber and the invoices of booking were marked.
PW 2272 is the lawyer who prepared the lease agreement for the Akara Apartments where the bomber rented the apartment. The lease agreement was marked.
PW 2270 is a security guard of Akara Apartments and he gave evidence as to the vehicle details relating to 3B apartment and the note book of the security officers was marked.
PW 2254 is the driver of the hired vehicle which was used to transport explosive materials from Paraththta road, Moratuwa to Kalmunei and Samanthurai. He identified the houses from which the material was loaded and the two houses where the material was unloaded. the witness was very emotional while giving evidence.
PW 2245 gave evidence through zoom while being in the Office of High Commissioner in UK. He has rented the safe house in Enderamulla. He identified the lease agreement and the photo of the lessee.
